A Target To Hit

In order for you to hit a target, there’s got to be a target to aim or shoot at. Otherwise, you’re just shooting in the air and whatever it hits, it hits. Is that what you want?

This is what’s so important about having a goal. Not just a goal, but a specific goal, and a goal you have a strong desire to hit. This can be something as simple as:

  • A place you wish to go and visit
  • Something you wish to do
  • Someone you wish to see or talk to
  • A bucket list
  • Something you wish to achieve
  • A dream come true
  • Someone you aspire to be
  • Something you desire to have

YOU get to determine how specific the goal is. For example, using something from the list above, you might say, I “wish to achieve” a college degree. This is specific, but you can be even more specific than that. You may wish to achieve a certain type of degree that may take you anywhere from two to eight or 10 years to achieve. You do the choosing, it’s your wish, aim, or target to hit.

Now what may help you achieve this is deciding what you want to do with the degree, career wise. Or, is it just to say you have a piece of paper? This may also help you determine how long it will take to complete it. Once you have these questions answered, the program of study will have the required courses of study for you to reach this goal.

So, do you see and understand the process of having something to not only aim for, but a plan of how you will achieve it as well? It takes all of this and sometimes more to have a target to hit. This “thing” you’re going to hit, the target, is what you desire for yourself.

What is that for you?

If you don’t have a target to hit, you will end up where you end up. Will that be okay with and for you? If yes, then keep moving in the direction you’re heading. But if no, then determine right now what you’re going to do different to arrive at your desired destination. Only then will you be able to hit the target and receive the prize you’re shooting for. Go for it!
