Whether you just left some place or you’re headed some place, it’s your journey. Trust that!
Have you ever arrived somewhere and wondered how you got there? You thought you knew where you were going, but things didn’t quite pan out the way you were hoping they would. Why do you suppose this happened? Hindsight is everything.
Often, it’s after the fact that we have all these revelations about our journeys in life and relationships. They help us plan better for the next time around. This does not happen automatically though. You must be intentional about what you’re after, and plan accordingly.
A series of questions to ask yourself might be:
- Where do I want to go?
- Why do I want to go there?
- What do I want to do once I arrive?
- How will I get there?
- When do I want to go?
- How long do I want to stay?
- Who would I like to go with me, or do I want to go with myself?
- How do I want to feel as a result of having gone there?
- In what way do I anticipate my life changing as a result of this journey of choice?
Anytime you have plans to go somewhere, do you always ask yourself these types of questions? How does it make you feel after spending some time with these questions prior to heading out on a journey? Is it too daunting of a task to spend some time with yourself going through these questions on the front end of your journey? Or, would you rather go and return wishing you had taken the time before leaving?
Often, life and relationships can be the same way. This is the journey of your life. Yes, yours! Whether you stop and take the time to make it intentional or not, what ever happens is still a choice you made. To not make a choice is still choosing.
Check in with yourself mentally and emotionally as you go about your life, to be clear on what and why you do (or not) what you do. When you take the time and give your decisions some thought on the front end, you won’t have the need to feel guilty about not having done so. Others have enough to say to and about you and the choices you make. Let it remain that way. It’s better coming from without than from within. Don’t you be the one to beat up on you.
As you take the time to sit with yourself about where you’ve been in life and where you want to go, remember, it’s your journey. YOURS! Each decision you make actually leads to another. So, wherever you end up going, whoever you end up being, it’s been a journey you have needed to take; for whatever the reason may be.
As you spend time getting to know, like, and trust yourself better, you can gain the inner confidence needed to let you know you’re exactly where you need to be. Wherever you are, however you get there, “trust the journey“.
